7th December 2022
More than 33,000 PCS members in the civil service are to be re-balloted so they can potentially join national strike action in the new year over pay, pensions, changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme and jobs.
In our record-breaking ballot results announced last month we broke through the 50% legal strike threshold in 124 employers and our first wave of strikes begins next week. Six other groups of members where the turnout was just below 50% will be asked again through a postal ballot if they support strike action in support of the union's campaign for a pay rise of at least 10%, pensions justice, job security and no cuts to civil service redundancy pay. If they pass the 50% threshold, they will be able to join the strikes in 2023.
The first group to be re-balloted will be members working Highlands and Islands Airports, whose ballot runs from 14 December to 5 January.
The following groups will be balloted from 16 January to 27 February:
HMRC
VOA
Companies House
Care Quality Commission
Welsh Government.
