School Inspection Framework Review
29th September 2010
Her Majasties Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) is reviewing its existing school inspection framework which was introduced in 2008. The review covers inspection in the pre-school, primary, secondary and special school sectors, including all through schools and follow-through inspections.
The aim is to continue to make improvements which build on the approach developed in HMIE's current inspection framework, with a view to introducing any changes next year. HMIE is committed to ensuring its approaches to school inspection are well adapted to the changing environment in which education is provided and that we command wide public and stakeholder support.
In order to make sure we hear the views of our stakeholders we have launched a public consultation which will run until 17 December 2010. The purpose of this consultation is to gather the views of as many of our stakeholders as possible about our proposals for school inspections. We want to hear your comments and views to help ensure that we are meeting your expectations and needs as far as we can.
