DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (December 14th) had a catalogued entry of 143 MV accredited pedigree females at its annual Highland Ladies show and sale.

Judging proceedings this year lay in the capable hands of Mr Gary Morrison, Bush of Muldearie, Keith. Ahead of him was the unenviable task of judging the Beltex, Suffolk, Texel and Blue Texel breeds. Another fine show of sheep were presented at its annual show and sale with all the aforementioned breeds again oozing class in every department. After much deliberation for the second year running the overall Champion, kindly sponsored by Mr and Mrs Mitchell, Proprietors of Mitchells Minerals was tapped out to Mr R Wilson, with his Texel gimmer from his infamous Milnbank flock. This gimmer is carrying a single which is sired by Knockem Ferocious which was later knocked down to Mr Steven Stewart, Lay lodge Texel's, The wards. Continuing with the Deja Vu theme theme for the second year running the Reserve Overall Champion, which was also sponsored by Mr and Mrs Mitchell, Proprietors of Mitchells Minerals was awarded to Mr A Morton and his daughter Kirsty for their Beltex gimmer. This gimmer is carrying a single which is sired by the famous Gyffin Dexter which was then knocked down to the judge for 1,900gns. Despite adverse weather conditions wreaking havoc over the north of Scotland a solid trade was witnessed with the online bidding platform playing a key role in proceedings.

A special mention must go to all our generous sponsors of the show and sale Mitchells Minerals, Watson Seeds, Alistair Young Engineering, Dingwall Tyres, Mark Garrick, Philip Gill Contracting, Ravenhill Ltd, Raddery Sawmill and Redhill Farm Machinery. Watson Seeds also kindly donated a special bottle of whisky which was presented to the consigner of the highest price female at the sale, Mr A Morton and his daughter Kirsty for their Beltex gimmer.
