Council Job Cuts - Wick children's care home - Avonlea – closed this week

Up to 17 staff work at the Children's home in Wick but it is now closed.

It leave some unanswered questions and points the way to worse to come with Highland council projecting a £41million gap in its budget for 23/24.

Even with a substandard report on the home was it not the case that improvements would be made to get it back on track.

The bad news for the council budget was outlined on 8th December in the paper presented to the council Financial Crisis Workforce Planning and Preparation

The special Highland council budget setting meeting will take place on 1 February 2023.
