Local Visitor Levy For Highland Area - Held Up By The Pandemic But Now Moving Forward

A visitor levy was already on the cards before the pandemic. The Scottish Parliament has already started the process. The Highland council Economy and Infrastructure committee will be updated on 2 February 2023.

Although due to the delays it was all held up it is still proposed to allow councils to bring in the charge.

The Scottish parliament are about to restart the process and it will wind its way through the committee process over the next 18 months before it finally reaches council for decisions. Even then a local consultation process is required.
