Which Campaign.
At the end of this year, thousands of laws are at risk of being weakened or scrapped completely. From product safety laws that stop the sale of dangerous toys to hygiene rules in restaurants and food labelling on products, many of the hard-won laws we've campaigned for over the years, with people like you, could disappear overnight.
Following Brexit, the UK kept thousands of laws that had been developed and adopted while it was in the EU. But under the terms of the Retained EU Law Bill, these laws are due to be scrapped at the end of 2023. Unless government ministers decide to pass new laws to save them, up to 4,000 laws could be removed by an arbitrary deadline, without any Parliamentary scrutiny or challenge.
We're calling on the Government to change the Bill so it does not remove important laws at the end of 2023. We believe this deadline should be delayed to allow more time for a proper review of 4,000 laws and to avoid the risk of any law being missed and then deleted.
Do you support our calls to stop vital laws, such as our food and product safety, from being automatically scrapped?
