Companies Urged to Do Business in Asia

A free event open to companies interested in doing business in Asia is being held this month at Cowan House in Inverness. Organised by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in partnership with Scottish Development International (SDI), the 'Doing Business in Asia' event on November 11 aims to introduce businesses to opportunities in the Asian market and help local companies already in the region deepen and strengthen partnerships.
Nick Scroggie, Development Manager for HIE, said: "Home to the world's second, third and fourth biggest economies, this event will include individual sessions on doing business in China, India and Japan as well as advice on other Asian countries. China is set to overtake the USA as the world's largest economy by 2017. We are encouraging all businesses in the Highlands and Islands interested in Asian markets to attend this event in order to help make the most of the opportunities in the region."
SDI's Asia based senior management team, which oversees operations in Greater China, Japan, India, Korea and South East Asia will be on hand to deliver in-depth industry and geographic knowledge to help businesses understand the opportunities benefits of partnerships with Asian organisations.
Information on breaking into the market, an overview of Asian business cultures and proven techniques for developing successful business and trading relationships across the continent will also be discussed on the day. As well as the country-specific sessions, there will be an opportunity for one to one meetings with the experts, tailored to the specific needs of the business.
