9th March 2023

A new scam email purporting to be from the Royal Bank of Scotland has recently been reported. The message says that a request to change your mobile number has been received.

The message includes part of a mobile phone number and says that it will become active within 24 hours unless you click on a link to 'cancel the request'.

The link leads to a scam website with RBS branding, where you are asked to confirm your existing mobile number and bank account details.

How to Avoid
The Royal Bank of Scotland advise that they will NEVER ask you to click on links through a text or an email to log into your online banking or mobile banking app.

Genuine emails from them will include your name and part of your postcode.

Don't click on any links in unexpected messages. If you do click on a link do not provide bank or security details and never download software on to your device.

If you receive an unexpected message from your bank and are unsure if it is legitimate, log in to your account or contact your bank using their official number (found on the back of your card, a statement or on their website)
