The Chancellor made some provision for Beer in Pubs but not in supermarkets.
The alcohol taxes increase with inflation and this year it will hit with about an 11% rise. The only exception will be draft beers sold in pubs.
A new system for alcohol duty first announced by Rishi Sunak in 2021 is also anticipated to come into effect, meaning that alcoholic drinks will be taxed on the basis of their strength.
The combined measures mean roughly 90% of all still wines in the UK will be subject to a tax increase this summer, according to industry estimates.
