The Biggest Stealth Tax In UK History Not Mentioned in the Budget

19th March 2023

The stealth tax not mentioned in Jeremy Hunt's budget as it was brought in by him in his autumn statement last November.

The freeze on tax and national insurance allowances usually announced in budgets will not happen again until 2028. This will increase tax for most people year on year and also increase the number of people drawn into the higher rates tax band.

This may be the death knell for the conservative Government as this further erosion of living standards will be felt as a major blow to reducing the income from almost everyone in the country. The handouts are over and this added to the increases in mortgage payment, higher energy bills from April 2023 will severely affect the spending power of all families.

Now that the budget is past articles are appearing setting out the damage to incomes.
