Munro Vehicles (Munro), a manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, and Scotland's only volume production car company today welcomed MSP Graham Simpson to its headquarters to see the first vehicles entering production.

Muro welcomed 61 investors, deposit holders and fans through its doors during an open day. Visitors were treated to a tour of the workshops where they saw the first customer vehicles in production as well as exclusive behind the scenes access to all areas of Munro facilities from manufacturing through to assembly.

Munro Vehicles welcomed MSP Graham Simpson, a member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Sustainable Transport.

Munro hosted 61 investors, deposit holders and friends to its HQ in East Kilbride, Scotland.

The world's toughest electric 4x4s.

Designed and built in Britain, the Munro is the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in more than four decades.

Rugged, durable, and engineered for 50 years of service with routine maintenance and planned refurbishment

The visit culminated in a questions and answer session with the founders where they posed questions ranging from production schedules (Job 1 is underway now) to the wading capabilities of the MK_1 (80 cm).

Graham Simpson, Member of the Scottish Parliament Sustainable Transport and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Cross Party Groups commented: "It has been fascinating to visit Munro Vehicles and see what Scotland's first volume automotive manufacturer in over four decades has to offer.

"Zero-emission mobility is key to the future of Scotland, which is home to many, more challenging to decarbonise sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and wind turbine management. Munro's rugged, all-electric 4x4 could provide the solution those operating in these sectors require. The brand has the potential to become a key employer in the region, creating highly skilled jobs both within the company and wider supply chain".

"The Team and I are proud to have the opportunity to share the engineering and passion that goes into building these incredible all terrain electric vehicles" commented Munro CEO and Co-Founder Russell Peterson. "It was a pleasure to welcome MSP Graham Simpson to our HQ and show him what Scottish innovation in sustainable transport looks like".

The first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles to be hand-built in the brand's East Kilbride, headquarters in Scotland are Founder Editions. The first vehicle, a black Truck, is being constructed to Munro's Range specification. Endowed with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque, the Truck offers an estimated 190-mile range and a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle, a gloss-white Pick-Up built in ultimate specification Performance guise, features a 280kW battery, 700NM of torque, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is a ground-breaking electric-powered, four-wheel-drive workhorse that combines the rugged reliability and repairability of a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions.

At the core of the Munro MK_1's capabilities is its ability to handle any weather and terrain, providing uncompromising performance. Its spacious rear bed can accommodate a 1050kg Euro Pallet payload, while the Performance model boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it ideal for hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

The vehicle's impressive power output of 375kW (peak) combined with 700Nm of torque enables it to sprint to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. It features a 220KW electric motor and comes in Utility, Performance and Range variants, each catering to different needs and preferences.

With an 82.4kWh battery onboard, the Munro MK_1 can rapidly recharge from 15% to 80% battery capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Designed, engineered, and proudly built in Great Britain, the Munro is a historically important vehicle as it marks the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in over four decades.

The positive feedback from media and customers who have test-driven the MK_1 Truck has been overwhelming, and the response to the new MK_1 Pick-Up has been equally enthusiastic. More than 250 pre-orders for both the Truck and Pick-Up models have been received, affirming that Munro's vehicles are precisely what the market needs, particularly sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defence, where radical solutions are required to enable operators to meet their decarbonization targets.

Munro is poised to seize the significant global market opportunity with the support of financial partners as the company nears completion of its first two production models. With Munro's commitment to innovation and clean-sheet design, the MK_1 promises to be a game-changer in the world of electric workhorse vehicles.

About Munro
Munro Vehicles was founded in 2019 by Russell Peterson and Ross Anderson to manufacture the Munro® MK_1, the world's most capable all-electric 4x4, for commercial and private customers. Born off-road, the Munro is a unique 4x4 with uncompromising capability in the most challenging environments with the lowest environmental impact.

Scotland's only production car company, Munro Vehicles, will build 50 vehicles in 2023 before transitioning to a new purpose-built site near Glasgow in 2024. With the creation of 300 new jobs, production will be ramped up to 250 vehicles per year with a strategic roadmap in place to deliver 2,500 units annually by 2027.

The Munro is cleverly engineered to be simple and low-cost to maintain, with the extensive use of existing components. This approach ensures a superior total cost of ownership, with maximum uptime from a fully electric 4x4 that minimises its footprint no matter where it goes.

Like the Scottish mountains the brand is named after, the Munro has been conceived to last a lifetime. Born off-road, born electric and capable of withstanding the harshest terrain and challenging elements, Munro is enduring, inspiring and ready for any challenge.
