July is the second consecutive month in which we have seen a small increase in seasonally adjusted transaction figures. Seasonally adjusted residential transactions are up 1% relative to June, while seasonally adjusted non-residential figures are up 3%.

However, seasonally adjusted figures for both residential and non-residential transactions are down 16% and 6% respectively compared to July of last year.

Non-seasonally adjusted residential transactions are down 9% relative to June, with the equivalent non-residential figure down 8%.

Headline statistics from the latest transactions data include:

the provisional non-seasonally adjusted estimate of the number of UK residential transactions in July 2023 is 86,190, 22% lower than July 2022 and 9% lower than June 2023.

the provisional seasonally adjusted estimate of the number of UK residential transactions in July 2023 is 86,510, 16% lower than July 2022 and 1% higher than June 2023.

the provisional non-seasonally adjusted estimate of the number of UK non-residential transactions in July 2023 is 9,340, 9% lower than July 2022 and 8% lower than June 2023.

the provisional seasonally adjusted estimate of the number of UK non-residential transactions in July 2023 is 9,770, 6% lower than July 2022 and 3% higher than June 2023.
