Wick Councillor Katrina MacNab Resigns From Highland Council

Katrina MacNab (Independent) has given notice of her resignation from the Council with effect from Friday 4 March 2011.
Elected to the Council in 2003, she is one of three councillors representing Wick. The other two councillors are Councillor Bill Fernie, Independent, and Graham Smith, Independent Members' Group. They are available to attend to ward issues, along with the Ward Manager, David Sutherland.
Council Convener Councillor Sandy Park said: "I am sorry to hear of Councillor MacNab's decision to stand down from the Council. She has been a valued member of the Administration and I would like to thank her for the contribution she has made over the last eight years to her local community and to the wider Highlands."
With the resignation of Councillor MacNab the representation of the 80-member Council will be Independent, 24; Liberal Democrat, 20; SNP, 17; Labour, 7; Independent Members Group, 6, Independent Alliance Group, 4, Non-Aligned 1. The Administration comprises members of the Independent, Liberal Democrat and Labour Groups.
Thursday 7 April is the likely date of a by-election. This will be confirmed soon.
