Mental Health Service In Scotland - The Lived Experience - A Short Video

Adult mental health lived experience video transcript.

[As two people sit down on a bench the following words appear on screen: As part of our audit, we spoke to people with experience of adult mental health services. Here's what some of them told us']

Voiceover 1 as quote appears on screen [not person’s real voice]: If you live in a rural community or outside of a catchment area you have no services available. You try to access the services where they are available but you’re up against a brick wall.

Voiceover 2 as quote appears on screen [not person’s real voice]: I do really like working with my clinical psychologist but in terms of getting the support in the first place, and the waiting times, I found that very, very difficult and it was not a good experience for me’.

Voiceover 3 as quote appears on screen [not person’s real voice]: Mental health services should be available to everybody when they need it. I wouldn’t go around with a broken leg for 20 years, it just wouldn’t happen. Mental health should be treated the same as any other part of your body, which just now it isn’t’.
