Update - For Thursday 19 October - Met Office Weather Warning

18th October 2023

The Met Office have updated the warning to say that the heavy rain will hit on Thursday with the wind gusting through Thursday and Friday. But it looks like the gusts have already started today Wednesday

The Met Office has advised that Storm Babet will bring a period of very strong southeasterly winds to much of central and northern Scotland.

What to expect
Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

It's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
