We've received reports from people receiving calls from scammers posing as officials from banks, IT companies, broadband providers and retail outlets.
They will claim your account has been compromised or something is wrong with your computer and request access remotely to allow them access to your accounts or personal data.
Please be aware that genuine companies will not unexpectedly contact you and ask you for access to your account or to download an app.
Always be vigilant when receiving telephone calls from unknown persons. They will appear to know much about you and may even know your name, address, passwords and direct debit details. However, this does not make them legitimate and is often part of the scam.
STOP - Take a moment to stop and think. Never reveal personal banking details to someone who calls you out of the blue. CHALLENGE - Could this be a scam? Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.
PROTECT - Contact your bank immediately if you think you've fallen for a scam and report it to
