Don't Believe House Prices Indexes In 2024! - UK House Price Crash
27th February 2024
The INCOVENIENT TRUTH about the UK HOUSE PRICES and why you shouldn't believe any of the house prices you see reported in the mainstream media. Rightmove, Halifax, Nationwide, Acadata and the Land Registry release their house price indexes every month, however, the accuracy of these HPI's should certainly be up for debate.
Unfortunately, the mainstream media echoes almost every press release without any scrutiny. This unchallenged reporting can give potential buyers and sellers a misleading impression of the state of the UK housing market.
Every major house price index uses a different methodology, weighting, average and dataset to come up with an average house price. There are so many variables at play that every HPI has the potential to be wildly inacurrate.
Since the UK house price crash started just over 18 months ago, house prices have been falling in almost all areas of the country. However, I have received messages from people all over the UK reporting that although house prices are falling in their region, many of the HPI's are painting a very different picture.
In this video, we discuss how all of the major house price indices are calculated and the differences between them. Please use this information to make your own judgement as to how reliable they may or may not be.
What do you think with happen to house prices in 2024? Is the housing market crash over already? Will house prices fall in 2024?
