Lucy Beattie Is The SNP Candidate For The Westminster Election
25th May 2024
Lucy Beattie is the SNP candidate for the Westminster election whenever the date is set.
The candidates are already sending out leaflets and post cards and no doubt many of you will have had one from Lucy.
She lives in the North West Highlands of Scotland.
She recently completed Phd with school of Education and Social Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland.
"I took on the family farm at the age of 21 when both my parents died and in 1998 became one of the youngest female farmers in Ross Shire. Supporting and promoting the role of women in agriculture has been a big part of my life and it was great to be involved in a recent government project alongside Joyce Campbell (Armadale).
During my years of farming I was also working for the Crofting Federation (formerly the Crofter's Union) as a training and development manager I helped to facilitate training projects in Castletown and Thurso. In 2016 I spoke in Wick at the Women at Work Conference about agriculture and my life in farming.
More recently I've been involved in educational research having completed my first qualification at North Highland College I have recently undertaken a PhD project at UWS and now teach Science Communication and supervise postgrad students."
