General Election 4 July 2024 - Voters Urged To Check Their Poll Cards

Poll cards for people across the two Highland UK Parliamentary Constituencies have started to be issued.
As a result of the recent boundary changes, parts of The Highland Council local government area now fall into the new constituencies. below:
Any voters who are in The Highland Council area but who are voting for the neighbouring constituencies cross boundary should click on the constituency information above to view the list of candidates who they can vote for. Their poll cards will be issued by Argyll and Bute Council and Moray Council.

The Returning Officer for the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross and the Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire Constituencies, Derek Brown is advising everyone to carefully check their cards when they arrive through the post to find out where they need to go to vote.
He said: "The poll cards have details on where you need to go to cast your vote. The address of your local polling station will be clearly shown and it is a good idea to check this as the location may have changed from the last time you voted."
Voters can also input their postcode into the following website to check which consistency they will be voting in and who the candidates are -

To vote in the 2024 election you must be aged 18 or over and your name must be on the electoral register. Electors not already registered have up until Tuesday 18 June to register to vote or apply for a postal vote.

On Thursday 4 July polling places will be open from 7am until 10pm.
For the first time at a UK general election, voters will need to show photo ID at a polling place. Accepted forms of photo ID include a passport, driving licence, older or disabled persons bus pass, and Young Scot card. For the full list of accepted ID, visit the Electoral Commission website
If you do not have one of the accepted types of ID, you can apply for free ID at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate or by completing and submitting a paper form to your local electoral registration office. You must apply by 5pm on 26 June, to be able to use the Voter Authority Certificate on 4 July 2024.
For this election, voters will be asked to mark their ballot paper by placing a cross [X] in the box next to their candidate of choice.
