Junior AI Developer (Multimodal AI) About the company: Norscot is a thriving company that has been innovating in offsite construction since 1984, specialising in both timber frame kit home and fenestration systems.
We are aiming to develop a smart inventory management system based on Multimodal AI applications. This project includes fenestration system manufacturing (uPVC), and we expect to apply the project findings to the remainder of our product portfolio.
Job Summary: As a Junior AI Developer (Multimodal AI) you will play a crucial role in successfully executing this grant-funded project. Your primary responsibilities will include collecting data using LiDAR cameras, analysing time-series data related to material offcuts, and applying multimodal AI techniques for comprehensive data analysis. You will work closely with our production team and technical department, as well as our academic collaborators and industry partners, to develop and implement cutting-edge algorithms that optimise inventory management and promote sustainable practices in offsite manufacturing construction.
Responsibilities: Collect and analyse offcut and product manufacturing databases to identify trends in material use and waste Assist in data collection and processing using LiDAR cameras (Matterport 2 and 3) to capture detailed spatial information related to material offcuts in offsite manufacturing construction
Analyse time-series data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that impact inventory management and material optimisation
Develop and implement multimodal AI techniques, including machine learning and deep learning algorithms, to extract meaningful insights from the collected data Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven solutions into existing inventory management systems, ensuring seamless implementation and operation Conduct thorough literature reviews to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in multimodal AI and inventory management practices Assist in preparing progress reports, research papers and other research outcomes that help build upon knowledge of smart inventory management systems
Participate in team meetings and workshops to share research findings, exchange ideas, and contribute to the overall research objectives
Required Skills and Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field Strong foundation in data analysis, AI, machine learning, and deep learning techniques.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, etc Experience with LiDAR cameras, specifically Matterport 2 and 3, for data collection and processing Familiarity with time-series data analysis and visualisation techniques Solid understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design methodologies
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Experience with agile methodologies.
Prior experience in manufacturing industries (fenestration is preferred) or similar environments Contract Type: Part-time (fixed 6 months) Expected Start date: 5th of August 2024 (flexible)
