Radical New Design For Aircraft From Jet Zero

JetZero is a California aerospace startup that is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft that is intended to be a more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional tube-and-wing aircraft.

2030 with 100% SAF compatibility, and the internal volume to accommodate zero-carbon hydrogen.

Design
The BWB aircraft has a shorter, wider fuselage that is blended into the wing to create lift, eliminating the need for a tail. This design reduces the surface area needed, making the aircraft lighter and more aerodynamic.

Fuel efficiency
JetZero's BWB aircraft is designed to be 50% more fuel efficient than conventional aircraft, and to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Emissions
The BWB aircraft is intended to have lower emissions than traditional aircraft, and to be a step toward zero-carbon aviation.

Passenger capacity.
The BWB aircraft will have the passenger capacity and range of a small wide body aircraft, but will use the engines of existing narrow-body planes.

Hydrogen fuel storage
The wide shape of the BWB aircraft will allow for additional space for hydrogen fuel storage.

Test flights
JetZero's Pathfinder aircraft is a 1:8 scale model of the full-size BWB aircraft that has been cleared for test flights.

Partnerships
JetZero has partnered with easyJet to develop the BWB aircraft. The U.S. Air Force has also selected JetZero to design and build a full-scale BWB aircraft.
