The A9 Dualling Project Is Now Expected To Be Completed In 2035, Which Is 10 Years Later Than The Original 2025 Target
3rd November 2024
The project has been delayed due to funding issues and inflationary pressures.
A Holyrood committee report said that wrangles over funding had already "significantly" contributed to the original 2025 target being missed. The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Ceca) called Transport Scotland the "worst" client in the UK for failing to deliver the project on time.
The project started in September 2015 and two sections have already been completed: Kincraig to Dalraddy, which finished in 2017, and Luncarty to Pass of Birnam, which finished in 2021.
