A Child Trust Fund is a long-term tax-free savings account for children born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011.
The Child Trust Fund scheme closed in 2011.
Many have still not claimed the money that is available. If you or your child is in the age group is is well worth looking as accounts were set up by HMRC for everyone in the age group evenif parents did not apply at the time it started. However many are still unaware of this cash waiting for them.
Find a Child Trust Fund as a parent or if you are over 16.

Worth checking as HMRC set up accounts for any who did not apply at the time. So parent and children may not be aware they have an account sitting with hundred of pounds free money.

BBC radio 4 programme Moneybox highlighted the issue today.
You do not need an agent to make a claim for you - it is easy to track it yourself on the government web site. Agents may take 25% of any money claimed on your behalf so avoid.
