E-petition debate relating to the Income Tax Personal Allowance - Monday 12 May 2025

The petition - Raise the income tax personal allowance from £12570 to £20000. We think this would help low earners to get off benefits and allow pensioners a decent income.

The petition was debated on 11 Mqy 2025.

The personal allowances is frozen until at least 2027/28 at £12750. All taxpayers are affected and each years takes more people in to paying tax and some into paying higher rates. The personal allowances used to be increased each year and by freezing it means more tax paid by almost everyone and increasing each year.
