Caithness maternity campaigners fear promised review will be watered down

It follows assurances at Holyrood which were seen as a big victory for mums-to-be hoping for better local access without heading to Raigmore in Inverness to give birth.

Campaigners for better access to maternity services in Caithness fear the SNP Government is pulling back from a promised review.

It follows earlier assurances at Holyrood which were seen as a big victory for mums-to-be fed up with local access and sometimes gruelling journeys along the A9 to Raigmore in Inverness to give birth.

On November 5, the Scottish Government appeared to back a Lib Dem vote which specifically called for an "independent review of maternity services in Caithness".

But Lib Dem campaigner David Green says further responses on the finer details raising concerns it will not live up to its billing.
