Check Local Fuel Prices But Be Patient As The New Web Site Is Still Populating Data

2nd February 2026

As of February 2, 2026, the new UK Government Fuel Finder scheme is live, requiring petrol stations to report price changes within 30 minutes.

The data is available through third-party apps, websites, and in-car navigation systems rather than a single government-branded app.

We checked at 1.30pm today and no places in Caithness had been added but a message on the site say it is populating.

Fuel Finder

Here is where to check fuel prices from the new data feed:
Fuel Finder UK (App/Website): This service has integrated the official government Fuel Finder API to provide real-time data on petrol, diesel, and EV charging.

PetrolPrices.com (App/Website): This platform allows you to check local prices, filter by brand or fuel type, and view results on a map or list.

Waze: This mapping app is recommended for its speed in locating fuel stations and showing prices.

Other Third-Party Apps: Many fuel price comparison apps and websites now use this official open data.

How to Use the New Data:
Search by Location: Enter your postcode, city, or route into the app/website.

Filter Results: Select your fuel type (e.g., E10, Diesel, Super) to find the cheapest option nearby.
Check Timing: Prices are updated within 30 minutes of a change at the pump.

The scheme aims to improve transparency and competition among retailers, helping drivers find the best deals.
