Local Firm Welcomes Fund Raising Fellows

30th May 2012

Local firm Geddes Windows and Doors Ltd, based in Halkirk, will be looking to welcome members of other companies within the construction and supply trade to the county as they complete their gruelling Land's End to John O'Groats cycle in their quest to raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice.

Geddes Windows and Doors Ltd have recently been working with Senior Architectural Systems Ltd to develop a new product range of timber and aluminium clad windows, doors and curtain wall products at their factory for the UK Market.

One of the cyclists undertaking the popular charity route is Craig Turner of Senior Architectural Systems Ltd. Other cyclists accompanying Craig are from well-known companies in the construction industry - Wates Construction, Balfour Beatty and Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd.

Raymond Bremner, Managing Director of Geddes Windows and Doors Ltd and Bill Robertson, Technical Manager of Senior Architectural Systems Ltd have recently teamed up to deliver a series of road-shows starting with the Highlands and Islands of Scotland to deliver informative presentations on the new products now being fabricated at the company's premises in Halkirk.

The new products are to be marketed throughout the UK with a specific focus on commercial and public service building projects and have already been approved by Orkney Islands Council and Highland Council with the new products being fitted currently in the new Stromness Primary School being constructed by Morrison Construction.

Raymond Bremner said "we are delighted to welcome the Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) team to Caithness - especially considering that they are in the same industry as our own and have a special connection with us here at Geddes. We have been working with Senior Architectural Systems Ltd to develop our new products in order to diversify our product range, secure current employment and build on that level of employment in the future.

Our partnership with Senior Architectural Systems Ltd has enabled us to gain a broader knowledge of the market at the same time as meet new people in the industry. We wish the LEJOG team well and look forward to seeing them when they arrive in the county."

Bill Robertson, Technical Manager of Senior Architectural Systems Ltd said "It's great to know that we have the support of a partner company in the North of Scotland providing great opportunity for both companies. The Lands End to John O' Groats charity cycle is one of the many future opportunities where we can build and grow company relationships within the industry and at the same time help out on a charitable level - in this case for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. It's also great that there is a knowledge that when you get to the end of a great charity fund raiser such as the Lands End to John O' Groats challenge, there will be someone to welcome you in a place where you wouldn't normally know anyone!"

Bill Robertson will be travelling to Caithness on Friday 1st June where the company representatives will welcome the cyclists to the county at the Provincial Md evening celebrations in the Assembly Rooms in Wick the following day, Saturday 2nd June, before they set off for the final 17 miles to the end of the route in John O Groats.

The Lands End to John O Groats challenge started on Monday 28th May and aims to be in John O Groats on Saturday evening 2nd June.

The cyclists undertaking the challenge are:

Craig Turner - Senior Architectural Systems Ltd
 Andy Bell - Wates Construction
 Richard Rae - Balfour Beatty
James Sutherland - Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd

The final day of the challenge will begin in Aviemore on Saturday 2nd June
2012
