Torch visit to John O'Groats - Sunday 10 June

30th May 2012

The torch will make an appearance at John O'Groats - the most northerly point in mainland Great Britain - on Sunday 10 June. A celebration is taking place at the harbour in the Caithness landmark following the Caithness and Sutherland Vintage Car Rally being staged at the village park. At 4.30 pm, Caithness Junior Pipe Band will lead the public from the car rally arena to the harbour, where the crowd will be entertained by a community dance group and a community choir.

The highlight will be the appearance at 5.30 pm of the Olympic torches carried by Andrew Sinclair, Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for the Caithness Sutherland and East Ross Constituency, and Louis Mackinnon, Chairman of Highland Youth Voice, who on Saturday will have helped carry the torch in separate stages through Inverness to the Northern Meeting Park.
