BrewDog Brewery Failure Leaves A Trail of Debts Unlikely To Be Paid

17th April 2026

Administrators have today revealed that 59 firms across Aberdeen and the north‑east are owed nearly £2.4 million following the collapse of BrewDog, which entered administration last month with debts exceeding £550 million.

The full creditor list includes a mix of major suppliers, councils, and small local businesses.

Among those owed money are:

ARR Craib Transport Ltd (Dyce) — £1,568,592

Aberdeenshire Council — £238,252

Aberdeen City Council — £23,559

Pitreavie Packaging Ltd — £115,636

Sinclair Agricultural and Recycling Services Ltd — £115,591

Advanced Refrigeration (Udny) — £10,578

Boiler & Valve Engineering Ltd (Nairn) — £32,563

Forsyths Ltd (Moray) — £5,946

The Coffee Apothecary (Ellon) — £4,421

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce — £1,677

Highland Distillers (Craigellachie) — £130

The administrators — Clare Kennedy, Ian Partridge, and Ben Browne of AlixPartners confirmed that unsecured creditors are unlikely to receive any meaningful payment.

BrewDog's brand and key assets, including its Ellon brewery, were sold to Tilray Brands for £33 million, preserving around 730 UK jobs but leaving suppliers "high and dry," as one Aberdeen managing director told the Press & Journal.

He criticised the insolvency process, saying, "The current system lets buyers walk away from the debt while suppliers are asked to keep working with the new company. The law needs to change."

In total, the north‑east firms are owed £2,377,513.
