15 Bidders For Parts of Failed Rocket company Orbex

7th May 2026

Administrators handling the sale of collapsed Scottish rocket manufacturer Orbex have received 15 offers for parts of the business and its assets.

FRP Advisory, which was appointed after the Moray-based firm went into administration earlier this year, said there had been a “high level” of interest from buyers.

One bidder was given a short period of exclusivity to explore a bid and paid a £25,000 deposit, but that period has now lapsed.

The firm did not say whether discussions with that buyer or others were ongoing.

Orbex employed 163 people across the UK, with most based in Forres in Moray. The majority of workers lost their jobs in February.

The company was founded in February 2015 and was developing a rocket called Prime for use in launching small satellites into low Earth orbit.

It also held a lease for a planned spaceport at Tongue in Sutherland.
