Round two of the Scottish EDGE is open for entries

After the first round of the Scottish EDGE competition, where over £500,000 was given to help 17 of Scotland’s brightest entrepreneurs, they are ready to start all over again!

This next round will award in the region of £750,000 to young Scottish businesses.

What is the Scottish EDGE?

The Scottish EDGE is a fund which aims to support and encourage entrepreneurial activity among young companies in Scotland.

The fund is for ambitious entrepreneurs who wish to grow their business. The companies which demonstrate the most potential could win awards of up to £50,000.

Winners will also receive a package of support from The Royal Bank of Scotland which may include free banking, security advice, or mentoring support as well as investor readiness, innovation or mentoring support from the enterprise agencies.

Who is it for?

The fund is open to small, young Scottish businesses which, with support, have the potential to achieve or increase sales by £400,000 within a period of three years (or £200,000 in the Highlands and Islands region).

It is open to entrepreneurs across all of Scotland, no matter where you are based.

Businesses must have been incorporated within the previous three financial years and must have a commitment to growing in Scotland over the next three.

More about the Scottish EDGE

Scottish EDGE is delivered by Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Islands Enterprise on behalf of Scottish Government, and in partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Business Gateway.

The Scottish EDGE has a total prize fund of £2 million. The prize fund will be awarded over a series a three competitions, the first of which took place in late 2012 and early 2013. The second competition is now open.

A third competition will take place in autumn 2013.
