SSE Opens New Business Portal For Local Firms

SSE is committed to maximising the benefits and opportunities for local businesses and communities in the Highlands and Islands, and is inviting businesses to register on the SSE Open4Business Highlands & Islands Portal.

SSE have a long history of working in partnership with, and in, communities in the Highlands and Islands and are committed to making sure that local businesses benefit from, and have a real part in, what they believe is a very exciting time for the region. SSE recently announced a ‘partnership agreement’ with the University of Highlands and Islands to collaborate and work together to maximise the benefits from SSE’s potential investment of £5-10bn in renewable generation, energy networks and energy services over the next 10 years.

The Portal will be used by SSE and any other registered organisation to promote pipeline opportunities it may have in the area. SSE will be feeding business opportunities into the Portal on a regular basis from January 2013 and included in this will be all of their major framework contract renewals. This is a free, dedicated service which facilitates productive procurement and helps communication within the SME (Small Medium Enterprise) community.

The Portal allows you to respond to opportunities that other organisations have posted; allows you to post your own opportunities; and it also has a Marketing section enabling your company to advertise what it can offer other organisations. The Open4Business team will be in the area carrying out training sessions to show businesses how they can benefit from using the portal and how to post / respond to opportunities. Further communication on the training will be circulated in the early part of 2013 and posted on the website.
