'Taste Our Best' in the Highlands

23rd October 2013

The North Highland Initiative (NHI) is calling for quality, as a north Highlands hotel receives an award from the new Taste Our Best Food & Drink Quality Assurance scheme, along with 14 other businesses in the Highlands area.

Forss House, near Thurso has been recognised by Taste Our Best which is designed to acknowledge businesses including hotels, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, visitor attractions and B&Bs that not only offer a quality food & drink experience, but include and promote Scottish produce on their menus to give consumers choice.

NHI Chairman, David Whiteford, is urging hospitality businesses in the North Highlands to join Forss House and get involved in the Taste Our Best scheme. The North Highlands produces world-class food and drink and it would be great to see more hospitality businesses getting involved in the Taste Our Best scheme and capitalising on our natural local larder.

Funded by the Scottish Government (450,000 over three years) and VisitScotland (470,000 in kind) with support from Scotland Food & Drink, the Taste Our Best initiative brings together the tourism and food & drink industries.

The Taste Our Best Food & Drink Quality Assurance scheme is the latest addition to VisitScotlands Quality Assurance schemes, which aim to drive up quality in tourism products across the country. Taste Our Best will provide businesses with an assessment of their food provision and their menu by qualified assessors, with those meeting the necessary criteria gaining the award.
