Kenneth Sutherland Is New President of Caithness Agricultural Society
3rd March 2016
Its Generation Game for Kenneth.
The Caithness Agricultural Society has a new President with Kenneth Sutherland Jnr taking the reins for the society's 175th Anniversary show this year. Kenneth follows in the footsteps of his grandfather Jack, father Kenneth Snr and more recently his brother Stephen in becoming the Show President.
Kenneth took over from Arnold Mackay, Strath Farm Watten at the society's AGM held in the Norseman Hotel, Wick recently. He paid tribute to Arnold's hard work over the past year as President and also his unstinting work for the society over previous years. Assisting Kenneth will be his Senior Vice President, Ronald Innes of Achairn and Jnr Vice President, Henry Gunn of West Canisbay.
Kenneth is looking forward to leading the show in this prestigious anniversary as it returns to Thurso East once more, by kind permission of Mr John Thurso. Planning is well underway for the showpiece event to be held on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th July with the majority of horse classes going ahead as normal on the Friday as well as the full livestock programme, trade stands and sports programme on the Saturday afternoon. The main ring attraction this year is the White Helmets Motorcycle Display team.
Also at this years AGM, show stalwart Clair Harper was rewarded by being appointed an Honorary Vice-President of the society.
The society has also recently appointed a new secretary, Tracy Alexander to succeed Donna Bisset. Tracy is based at Alexsin House, Nipster, Watten, Wick, KW1 5UP. Tracy is well known in the community having been Company secretary of a local John Deere Dealership, Community Councillor for bower as well as a Dance School Principal and Pre-School Gymnastic Club Coach for 17 years.
