Preparing to Export

Highlands and Islands Enterprise, in partnership with Scottish Development International, is running a FREE two day workshop on how to successfully prepare your business to trade overseas. In addition to hearing first-hand from a guest speaker about their export experiences, you'll complete your own export plan with 1-2-1 support.

Who's it for?

This introductory programme is targeted at Highlands an Islands companies of all sectors that are thinking about exporting for the first time, or are in the very early stages of exporting and wish to develop their export capabilities to grow their business.

Develop your export plans to ensure your business continues to grow

Key areas covered:

Market Analysis: Why export? Learn the importance of export planning and what to include in your export plan.
Market Entry: Once you have selected key target markets, what is the best approach to market entry for your company?
International finance, contracts and logistics: Learn more about the practical aspects of exporting. Such as basic legal issues including protecting your intellectual property, as well as putting the right contact in place to get paid.
Export Plan: companies will be guided through the production of an export plan.

Please note that the course is free of charge, but as it is a form of State Aid, it could count towards your overall De Minimis allowance.
