Highland & Islands companies receive Investors in People 10 Year Achievement Award

Twenty-one Highland & Islands organisations have won an award recognising 10 years of their commitment to using the Investors in People Standard.

Wester Ross Fisheries, HM Prison Inverness, G & A Barnie Building Services and Loch Insh Water Sports, were among the winners who picked up the accolade at a celebration dinner and ceilidh at Stirling Castle on 29 November 2007. This year 85 Scottish companies were awarded the 10 Year Achievement Award which were presented by Peter Russian, chief executive of Investors in People Scotland at the ceremony.

Commenting on the awards Peter Russian said: "We are delighted to present the 10 Year Achievement Awards to recognise the fantastic achievements of these organisations, which have shown real commitment to their people for more than 10 years. They have demonstrated their people are their greatest assest and 10 years of maintaining high standards in the work place is something employers and employees should be proud of."

The Investors in People Standard, which was founded in 1991, provides a national framework for improving business performance and competitiveness. The Standard focuses on good practice in areas such as communication, planning, training, performance reviews and management effectiveness.

The awards are sponsored by Hudson, one of Scotland's leading recruitment specialists, Scottish Enterprise and Highland & Islands Enterprise.

More than 4,000 organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors in Scotland hold the Investors in People Standard including, IBM, Glenmorangie, Angus Council, West Lothian Council and The Balmoral Hotel.
