New Park Part Of Successful Consortium For New Contract

8th December 2007

New Park part of the successful consortium awarded The Scottish Enterprise Energy Technology Centre (ETC) programme.

Following from a successful two-year pilot phase, Scottish Enterprise has awarded a 3 year business development, commercialisation and technical services contract for its Energy Technology Centre (ETC) to a consortium being led by TUV NEL which includes New Park Management who own and operate Forss Business & Technology Park.
Forss, Caithness, December, 2007:

New Park Management plan to link in renewable energy technology developments in the north of Scotland with the Scottish Enterprise Energy Technology programme via developments at Forss Business & Technology Park and additional sites in Caithness.

Highlands & Islands Enterprise are linked in with New Park through the 'Innovation Forss' initiative. (see: http://www.iforss.com ). Neil Robertson, New Park Director, responsible for the Forss Business & Technology Park stated, "We see this development as a significant step forward in the support of renewable energy technology implementation in the north of Scotland".

The consortium comprising TUV NEL, New Park Management, Optimat, Orion Innovations and John Brown Engineering provides breadth as well as depth across a number of disciplines including energy technology development, marketing and management consultancy, through to the identification and accessing of funds. Alistair Mackinnon of TUV NEL, who lead the consortium states" The contract started on 1 November 2007 and aims to develop the portfolio of services already offered by the ETC to the wider energy community with a particular focus on business which is active in Scotland. The low carbon energy sector has experienced rapid growth, and the ETC aims to support technology development through its complete product life cycle including concept, design and prototyping, the development phases and successful implementation and exploitation.

This is an exciting opportunity for companies to draw upon the expertise available from the consortium partners with the full support of the enterprise network to further strengthen Scotland and indeed the UK's position as a global player in the development of technology in the low carbon sector. It is anticipated that this initiative will bring a real, tangible, economic benefit and assist with the regeneration agenda.
