Award Boost For Thurso Engineering Firm - Envision Engineering And Design Limited
5th June 2017
A Thurso based engineering firm has secured an industry accreditation award that will boost its reputation internationally and help attract new business.
Envision Engineering and Design Limited created five jobs when it was set up less than a year ago by Liam Sutherland and Stuart Anderson, both of whom are originally from Caithness. Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has supported the company, including providing a £25,000 contribution towards business start-up costs.
Envision delivers full design engineering solutions using 3D AutoCAD software to clients in the nuclear, renewable energy and oil and gas sectors. Services include the design of pipework, steelwork, hydraulic and ventilation systems.
Following a rigorous auditing process the British Standards Institution (BSI) has now awarded Envision the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate for the provision of mechanical engineering design solutions to the energy, renewables and construction sectors.
The certification is internationally recognised as a powerful business improvement tool. It is based on quality management principles to continually improve processes throughout the business. The company will now be audited by BSI on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with the standard is maintained.
Liam Sutherland, Envision director, said: "It's taken almost a year of hard work preparing for the certification, now with this formal recognition, our clients and partners understand our commitment in providing the highest quality service."
Stuart Anderson, director, added, "Quality has been a key focus for Envision over the past year, and will continue to be. As a business, we are proud to work to ISO certified standards, consistently ensuring excellence and quality in every aspect of what we do."
Tania Murray, UK Head of Client Propositions at BSI said: “By achieving certification to ISO 9001, Envision has demonstrated and embedded a process based approach in to their organisation helping them to increase their resilience. The team should be proud of this achievement, which will help them to continually monitor and manage quality across all operations to ensure consistent performance and service.”
The news was welcomed by HIE. Claire Farquhar, business development account manager, said: “We are delighted for the team at Envision. The energy sector is a key area of growth for the local economy, with potentially huge opportunities linked to renewables and oil and gas.
“It is crucial that we help companies in the supply chain to ready themselves to benefit from these opportunities. Having this internationally recognised industry accreditation will be a huge boost to Envision and is well deserved.”
