Highland Council Leader Congratulates Winners For Westminster In Highland

Speaking following the results of the general election Cllr Margaret Davidson , Leader Highland Council said,"Congratulations to all our newly elected MPs, I am looking forward to working with them to make sure the Highlands has a stronger voice in Westminster. With two MP's having served as Highland councillors, we have MPs acutely aware of the challenges facing the Highland Council and the residents it represents. We need to work together to get a better deal for Highland residents. It remains unclear who will form the next UK Government but we need to be ready to knock on minister's doors to raise Highland issues.



There will be many factors behind the individual election results across the Highlands, with local issues playing an important role in the final outcome. What is clear is that the SNP Government need to reassess their centralisation agenda, which is having a damaging impact on Highland communities"
