Budding Engineers - Certificate of School Engagement for Inspiration by DYW North East Scotland.
Budding Engineers are delighted to have received certification for Developing the Young Workforce, with a Certificate of School Engagement for Inspiration by DYW North East Scotland. This is a great achievement for us and we hope we can look to inspire more youngsters in the North of Scotland.
Budding Engineers Community Interest Company is a new business that is hoping to help with the skills gap by looking to encourage more students to pursue a career in Creative Arts, Engineering Design and Technology.
The founder and managing director of Budding Engineers is Dave Kerr. He has been involved in education and working with CAD/IT for over twenty-five years in industry and as a CAD Trainer. His range of CAD skills/knowledge covers MicroStation, AutoCAD, 3ds MAX, Inventor, Revit, Fusion 360, Rhinoceros, Draftsight and Solid Edge.
What Budding Engineers is trying to achieve is the following:
• Stop the Leaky Pipe Issue. Sourced from Equate Scotland.
• Encourage STEM/STEAM at Primary Level.
• Improve Student Attainment.
• Developing Materials and Supporting Teachers.
• The Importance of Digital and Technological Real Work Skills.
• Continued Professional Development in the Workplace.
Address the Skills Gap in Engineering, Technology and Digital Sectors.
What is happening to those students who are not academically talented? They could be missing out on some opportunities. These students may not achieve good results in their core subjects but could have a lot of hidden talent elsewhere and we think that working with CAD is something that could have the potential to stimulate and benefit them going forward so we would like to hear from anyone who thinks they might be interested in Working with Budding Engineers.
There is an HNC CADD qualification available through Moray College UHI, so some of these students could go on and get fully qualified and they only need one grade C at higher in Graphic Communication, however if they don't have the necessary requirements but have professional experience, they are still encouraged to apply as this is taken into consideration.

We would also like to encourage STEAM/STEM into primary age children by introducing them to two products, BlocksCAD and TinkerCAD.
If any of the above is of interest, then please do not hesitate to contact us. Contact Dave on 07518 098944 or email info@budding-engineers.co.uk
