Should Croft Houses Be Any Different When It Comes To Care Charges
16th July 2019
An interesting petition currently on the Scottish Government petitions section of the web site.
Councils have the power to seize assets to cover the cost of certain things such as care home costs.
The petitioner Fie resident John McIver is petitioning to get the law changed to protect Croft homes from seizure. As we are all subject to this procedure as we get older do you think crofts should be any different.
Crofts are usually held under a secure tenancy agreement. In many cases now the original croft has been replaced with a new modern home. Council look at all the assets in making decision on how to pay for care. Should that change for crofters and if so is that fair to everyone else?
