Scottish Labour has removed one of their candidates after an internal party probe into comments he made on anti-semitism.

Bill Curran wrote that he stood with controversial MP Chris Williamson, who was suspended after claiming Labour had been "too apologetic" over the row about anti-Jewish sentiment in the party.

He also appeared to criticise the treatment of former party member Jackie Walker, who was expelled for misconduct after being accused of anti-semitism.

A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: "Bill Curran has been removed as Labour's candidate in Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross."

A raft of anti-semitism complaints have been made against Labour members in recent years and the party has been accused of going soft on perpetrators.

Labour Group Select Bill Curran As Prospective Candidate

The local Labour party have selected their candidate for the coming Westminster election.

"We are happy to announce Bill Curran has been unanimously selected by Caithness, Sutherland and Ross Labour Party as our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Westminster seat of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross."

Bill lives in Lybster with his wife and sheepdog Sid on their croft.

Bill spent most of his working life as a Psychiatric Nurse but as a young man had many low wage, casual jobs. He knows from personal experience how tough life can be.

He will make an excellent, hard working M.P., representing our area with the determination we need to highlight the pressing issues we face.

He has lived in Caithness for 15 years.

Bills policies for the North are linked with the Green Industrial Revolution, creating many more jobs by keeping manufacturing local. Scrapping Universal Credit is part too.

"He believes it's all about getting the jobs up here to reverse population decline."

At the same time protecting our poorest and most vulnerable citizens, food parcels when we are the 6th richest country in the world is a national disgrace.

Bill proposed a Remote and Rural Funding structure last year at Scottish Labour conference, something like the Islands funding .

Pleasing to see the SNP. have picked up this idea.

Healthcare in the North is another of Bills priorities ,(and he mentioned CHAT at Conference too.) We marched with everyone and have supported efforts to give the people of this area the healthcare they so desperately need, without travelling 100 miles plus.

Bill has also campaigned on getting decent bus and train services for the North.

The current MP is Libdem Jamie Stone who replaced the former SNP Paul Monaghan.
