Baillie Wind Farm Ltd
Located near Thurso in Scotland Baillie Wind Farm has been operational since August 2013. The project consists of 21 turbines with a tip height of 110m and is a joint venture between Statkraft UK Ltd and local partners.
Baillie Wind Farm produces approximately 170 GWh clean energy annually, enough to meet the electricity needs (of the equivalent) of 35,000 homes.
Community Benefits
The Baillie Wind Farm project provides a community benefit fund for the local community of £100,000 per annum for the 25-year life of the wind farm.
A trust fund administers the payments and is up of local people who will decide how to distribute the money to projects in the West Caithness area.
A £25,000 payment is also made per annum to the Caithness Business Fund. This is a private sector fund established to distribute grants to small businesses within the Caithness and North Sutherland area. The fund's mission is to promote local economic growth by supporting new and existing businesses and developing the skill base to meet new challenges.
