Swelkie Sand Art is a great fun and creative activity at the Gallery, John OGroats suitable for kids of all ages!

Sand Art is really simple! Simply peel bits of paper off a pre-printed picture, and sprinkle magic coloured sand onto the sticky surface underneath and your master piece is underway! No two pictures when completed, are the same. Children as young as 2 years can take part, and Grannys and Grandpas are often known for having a shot! It is virtually mess free, and quite simply brilliant fun and highly addictive! The calming and therapeutic values make it ideal for elderly people, persons with disabilities and special needs.

Families can just drop-in to the Gallery during our operating hours but for larger groups, we'd prefer a bit of warning so we can prepare for your needs and ensure you are not disappointed.

We can also cater for private or fundraising events - we can come along and run your workshop for you, or can provide you with professional equipment and products to host your own fundraising event, birthday party at a very reasonable cost.

Sand art is a very simple concept, and with a quick demonstration, you will be able to host your OWN workshop or event, raising funds for your OWN organisation and entertaining your guests. Here is a list of suggested events :

Sand art is hugely popular with all age groups, from the very young to grandparents, and is especially popular with persons with special needs. Its therapeutic values, often attracts persons / children to take part, who would not normally try anything arty.

We can deliver the equipment and products to you and set it up for a small fee, or you can collect it from us directly.

Sand Art Workshop / Party Prices

We come along to your event and run the sand art workshop for you, working with the children to make beautiful pictures. Cost : £6 per child for one sand art, with a minimum of 15 children required.

Local travel charge £10

Rental Prices

Set of 2 sand art tables (10 bowls and spoons), a card display holder, advertising board ( for your fundraising event) and small table for a half day hire (3hours) is £40 and full day is £70
