Clinical Research Organisation Identified To Lead Bovine TB Cattle Vaccination Field Trials

Eville & Jones has been awarded the contract to lead the field trials.   Following an open competition, the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) has awarded a contract to Eville & Jones, to run veterinary field trials of CattleBCG vaccine and the companion DIVA (Detecting Infected amongst Vaccinated Animals) skin test.

New App To Support Covid Vaccine Rollout

A new app for health and care home staff carrying out coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations will provide rapid access to relevant patient information and collect data on how many people have received the vaccination.   The ‘Vaccination Management Tool' was developed in response to the pandemic and, because it functions on PCs, tablets and iphones, can be used in any setting where the vaccine is being administered.

Supporting Culture Throughout The Pandemic

An additional £7.1 million to secure the future of as many grassroots music venues and independent museums as possible has been announced by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop.   The next phase of the Grassroots Music Venue Stabilisation Fund will provide £4 million to live music venues that were financially sustainable before coronavirus (COVID-19) to prevent permanent closure and stabilise until April 2021.

Emergency Funding For Football In Scotland - Over £11 million split between lower-league clubs

Emergency grants worth £11.35 million will be split between football clubs in an agreement between the Scottish FA and the Scottish Government.   The funding will support clubs below Premiership level after the loss of spectator revenue due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with £10 million coming from the Scottish Government's emergency sports package that was announced earlier this month, and a further £1.35 million from the National Lottery.

Avian Influenza - Bird Flu: Latest Situation

New housing measures came into force in England, Scotland and Wales on 14 December.   The Chief Veterinary Officers for England, Scotland and Wales have agreed to bring in new measures to help protect poultry and captive birds, following a number of cases of avian influenza in both wild and captive birds in the UK.

The Post Office has posted a copy of a letter to customers on its web site, Dear Customer Wick Mobile Post Office Located at: Riverside Car Park, MacLeay Lane, Wick, Caithness, KW1 4EA Relocation of Post Office Service We are writing to update you about the changes to the Post Office service in Wick.   The Wick Mobile Post Office service will cease on Wednesday 6 January 2021 at 15:00.

RAF Surveillance Fleet To Be Based In Moray

RAF Lossiemouth will be the new home of the UK's fleet of E-7 Wedgetail surveillance aircraft, bolstering Scotland’s key role in UK and NATO defence and security, Defence Minister Baroness Goldie announced today.   Delivering a step change in capability from the current E-3D Sentry, the E-7 Wedgetail is capable of simultaneously tracking multiple airborne and maritime targets, using the information it gathers to improve situational awareness and direct assets such as fighter jets and warships.
