Scottish Government Concern Over New Brexit Law

Economy Secretary Fiona Hyslop has written to the UK Government voicing concern at its plans for a post-Brexit internal market, saying it represents a threat to the Scottish economy.   Ms Hyslop said the proposed Internal Markets Bill will jeopardise Scotland's food and drink sector, which has a world-renowned reputation for high standards and high quality products.

UNISON to hold pay talks with Cabinet Secretary for Health in Scotland

UNISON, the largest health trade union, will be meeting Cabinet Secretary for Health in Scotland Jeanne Freeman on Tuesday 15 September.   UNISON will be asking for their present 3 year pay deal to be reopened so NHS workers can have a fair pay rise this year.

Covid Number Rise Across Scotland As of Yesterday - New Rules Legal From Monday

Scotland saw a rise of 221 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, this equates to 2.8 per cent of newly tested individuals The largest rise was once again seen in NHS Greater Glasgow with 106 cases, NHS Lanarkshire had 48, NHS Lothian 35 while NHS Grampian recorded just five cases NHS Highland had only four new cases.   For the last seven days there were a total of 1246 positive cases.

Communities in The Highland Council area are to benefit from Crown Estates funding to be disbursed by the local authority.   Councillors have agreed a funding distribution model to enable the disbursement of over £3million Crown Estates funds across the region.

Council agrees urgent motion calling for local Covid-19 information sharing

Council today agreed an urgent motion by Cllrs Margaret Davidson, Andrew Jarvie, Alasdair Christie and Jimmy Gray with a call for more detailed local information sharing on Covid-19 for members in local government.   The motion is as follows: "Throughout the pandemic we have received information on national and Highland wide numbers infected with Covid 19.

The Highland Council is seeking final feedback from the public on BT's proposal to remove 107 public payphones from across the Highland region.   Only one phone box Caithness is proposed for removal in this round but plenty have gone in previous rounds.

Highland Council Confirms Council House Building Targets Will Be Met Despite Covid-19 Lockdown

At the meeting on 9 September 2020 of the Council's Housing and Property Committee, Officers confirmed that house building targets will be met despite lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.   Chair of the committee, Cllr Ben Thompson, said: "I am delighted that we are able to continue to meet our targets for the Council house building programme.
