Scams Warning For 12 Million Self Assessment Customers

Self Assessment customers are urged to be on the lookout for scam texts, emails and phone calls from fraudsters.   This warning comes as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) received more than 130,000 reports about tax scams in the 12 months to September 2023, of which 58,000 were offering fake tax rebates.

Support To Leave An Abusive Relationship - £1000 Financial Support To Help Women And Children

Women experiencing domestic abuse will be able to receive up to £1,000 from a new pilot fund to pay for the essentials they need when leaving a relationship with an abusive partner.   The £500,000 Fund to Leave will be delivered by Women's Aid groups in the five local authority areas with the most women's homelessness applications due to domestic abuse.

Seven Projects Net Additional Funding Through UK Seafood Fund

Government announces a further £3.9 million to be awarded to UK Seafood Fund projects across the UK.   £3.9 million has been awarded to projects to improve the quality of training facilities to upskill the workforce and promote seafood careers, as well as build new and improved sea fishing infrastructure, Defra has announced today (Tuesday 17 October 2023).

Vacancies and jobs in the UK - October 2023

The number of vacancies in July to September 2023 was 988,000, a decrease of 43,000 from April to June 2023.   Vacancy numbers fell on the quarter for the 15th consecutive period in July to September 2023, down by 4.2% since April to June 2023 with vacancies falling in 14 of the 18 industry sectors.

Credit Card Interest Charges Are Increasing So It May Be Time If Possible To Clear As Much As Possible

Credit Card rates for interest are gradually following the recent increasing in bank interest.   Royal Bank has begun informing customers that from from 29th January 2024 the interest rate for credit cards will rise to a new rate 22.440% from the current rate of 19.956%.

Alternative Fuel Payment - if you do not use mains gas You might be eligible for a £200 Alternative Fuels Payment (AFP) if you use alternative fuels for heating instead of mains gas.   Alternative fuels include: heating oil Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) coal biomass Most eligible households will get the payment automatically as a credit on their electricity bills from 6 February 2023.
