DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August 11h) sold 8,040 store lambs at their annual district sale to average �47.22 (+�15.78 on the year). Cheviot wedder lambs (4,489) averaged �47.54 (+�14.65) and sold to �64 gross for a single from 27 Portgower, Helmsdale.

The Judge, Mr Tom Stevenson of Balmacolly Farm, Bankfoot, chose a 435kg junior Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Smallburn Farms Ltd, Duffus, Elgin, which realised �1,050, as his Overall Champion in the T.S.H.

David Whiteford has been appointed as the new Chairman of The Prince's North Highland Initiative. Mr Whiteford will take up the position on 1st June 2009.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (May, 6th) sold 164 adult head of breeding cattle including dispersals from The Crofters Commission, Knocknagael of 22 adult head averaging �2,430, Messrs W C McBean & Co., Milton of Gollanfield of 63 adult head averaging �1,451, and from Mrs J Patience, Brae of Balnabeen of 22 adult head averaging �1,778. Heifer with male calf (4) sold to �1,900 for a Simmental cross cow from Upper Muckovie, Inverness.

Mey Selections becomes first Scottish consumer goods company to put carbon labels on products Mey Selections, the Caithness based food brand, is the first consumer goods company in Scotland to be certified with the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label. Mey Selections Luxury Shortbread and two Honey products will carry the Carbon Reduction Label in stores from 1 May, demonstrating the company's work to measure and, crucially, its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint over the next two years.
