Wick and Thurso High schools will be closed to pupils on Wednesday 11th January 2023 due to industrial action taken by members of the EIS and SSTA teaching unions. Other schools may also be affected so parents and guardians should check before sending children off to school..

A NEW college for the North and West Highlands and Outer Hebrides will be known as UHI North, West and Hebrides when three UHI colleges merge. Last month the boards of management at UHI North Highland, UHI Outer Hebrides and UHI West Highland formally approved the merger proposal and business case, which will see them come together as a single UHI college from August 2023, pending Scottish Government approval.
Highland schools have made significant progress in improving their attainment outcomes for senior phase SQA results over the last 5 years. Following on from a routine site inspection, Structural Engineers identified potential concerns in relation to the condition of the concrete frame in the 3 storey, 1960s extension block. The recommendation from the Structural Engineers is to close the 3 storey block until further assessment is carried out.

Postgraduate students at UHI have rated their study experience as the best in Scotland in a UK-wide survey. UHI received a score of 95% student satisfaction in the 2022 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey.

Initial consultation finds support for proposed college merger project THE first phase of consultation around the proposed merger of UHI North Highland, UHI Outer Hebrides and UHI West Highland has concluded. The majority of respondents were supportive of the rationale for the merger and the overall direction and vision for the proposed new college.
We are glad to report that the school will be open tomorrow, Thursday 17th March. Tomorrow is also a fundraiser for Ukraine with staff and pupils being asked to wear something blue or yellow to support the aid effort.
Pupils living in the town will be allowed to make their own way home from 11.35 onwards. If there are any issues with pupils being received at home they are welcome to stay in the building until they can be picked up.
This year, Wick High S2 Computing Science pupils took part in the BEBRAS UK Challenge. The challenge aims to introduce computational thinking to students and is designed to get students all over the world excited about Computing.
Wick High School Re-opening Tomorrow - Wednesday 1st December 2021 the school conformed today. Wick Community Campus will reopen tomorrow (Wednesday 1 December 2021) now that interim repairs have been completed following damage caused by Storm Arwen.
