Wick High School Open Again - Thursday 17th March

We are glad to report that the school will be open tomorrow, Thursday 17th March.

Tomorrow is also a fundraiser for Ukraine with staff and pupils being asked to wear something blue or yellow to support the aid effort.

Donations from those taking part will be collected at morning registration.

Results Helpline to support pupils in the Highlands with SQA results

Young people in the Highlands can call a dedicated helpline offering expert advice to anyone receiving their full Higher, National, and Advanced results on Tuesday, 5 August 2025. The pupils and students- along with their parents and carers - will be able to get support with their results through Skills Development Scotland's (SDS) Results Helpline, which opens from 8am on results day.

Wick High Brings In New Policy Banning Mobile Phone from 19 August 2025

Our updated policy on mobile phones has been finalised after a period of consultation with our parents/carers, pupils and staff. This policy will begin with the start of the new academic year, on Tuesday 19th August, and will essentially mean that mobile devices will be prohibited in the school building and grounds during the school day.

Wick High School Closed Tuesday 16th January Due To Weather Conditions

Unfortunately we have taken the decision to close the school to staff and pupils, tomorrow, Tuesday 16th January. This decision was taken due to the weather forecast of further snowfall as well as the suggestion that our transport providers would likely not operate due to poor road conditions.

Girl From Wick High School Will Be Highland Youth Parliament's New Chair

The Highland Youth Parliament (HYP) is delighted to announce the voting in of a new Chair and Vice Chair. Megan Travers from Wick High School will be HYP's new Chair, and Dougal Masterson from Dingwall Academy will be HYP's new Vice Chair for 2023-24.

Wick High School Computing & Tech Students Drone Visit

The Computing Science and Technical departments today visited Wick Airport where exciting, cutting-edge VTOL (vertical take off and landing) drones were being tested. The company, ARC Aerosystems, was testing their prototype cargo delivery drone at the airport.

Highland schools have made significant progress in improving their attainment outcomes for senior phase SQA results over the last 5 years. 18 November 2022 Dear Parent/Carer Industrial Action -Teaching Unions You may be aware from coverage in the media, that the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) and the Association of Head Teacher and Deputes in Scotland (AHDS) unions have indicated their intention to take strike action on Thursday 24 November 2022. This action is part of a national dispute regarding pay.

Wick High Closed At 11.35am Today Due To Heating System Failure

Pupils living in the town will be allowed to make their own way home from 11.35 onwards. If there are any issues with pupils being received at home they are welcome to stay in the building until they can be picked up.

Wick High School Begins LGBT Charter

Wick High has taken a progressive step towards LGBTQIA+ awareness and inclusion by beginning their LGBT Youth Scotland School Charter Award. The LGBT Charter is a programme that supports schools in developing policies and undertaking training to ensure that their school is being as inclusive as possible.
